Leads architecture, software and AI delivery at Akili.
Akili (GOFRU S.A.S) is an AI and software engineering consultancy founded in Cali, Colombia, in June 2017. Juan Carlos co-founded it as AgroSmart, an agritech for the coconut sector of the Colombian Pacific. That led to GoFruver, an e-commerce platform that connected rural producers with the city. In those years the company took part in Colombian innovation programs such as Apps.co and Fondo Emprender.
Today he designs hierarchies of AI agents with LangChain and LangGraph and deploys them with Amazon Bedrock, AgentCore and AgentCore Gateway. He also created AKILI-SPECS, the open spec-driven development methodology Akili uses to build its software.
He has more than 15 years of experience building software, cloud platforms and automation. Before Akili he was CTO of Almacenes La 13 and a software engineer at Carvajal Tecnología y Servicios. He is a systems engineer from Universidad de Ibagué, a Specialist in Software Development Processes from Universidad de San Buenaventura, and holds the AWS Certified AI Practitioner and Google Generative AI Leader certifications.
